In 1931, my grandmother arrived in the US from France. She was immersed in a world she knew very little about and very few people. Letters from France were eagerly awaited, each one taking weeks to arrive.
Today, with one click, I receive news from friends and family that have come in the opposite direction, from the US to France. I’ve completed her circle, landing in a world that was foreign but felt immediately familiar.
I’m Linda Hough and you’re about to step into my world. I’ve lived in France now for the better part of 15 years. Yet mostly because of this easy Internet access to all that I’ve known before, I usually feel as though I have one foot in each world teetering back and forth without fully being here.
Recently I’ve felt the desire to more deeply explore my French origins. And there is so much to explore. As an artist, living in France is a dream. All around me are reminders of great artists that have lived and worked here. As someone who long ago adopted the concept of slow living, the pace here suits me well. The appreciation of beauty, culture and food…ah yes, the food! There is so very much here to explore!
